Dr Solomon Kofi Amoah is a civil society and development expert. He teaches Sociology of Work and Organisations at the University of Ghana. His research interests are in governance and sustainability of the non-profit sector, philanthropy, decent work, social protection systems, and gender studies. He has a wealth of experience in civil society and nonprofit research. He is experienced in qualitative and quantitative research approaches with excellent analysis and writing skills. Solomon’s work spans a wide range of subjects across Africa. He has carried out research on the political and socio-economic contributions of CSOs to development in West Africa, the organisational sustainability of CSOs in Africa (including those working in humanitarian contexts), and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the operations and programmes of CSOs in West Africa. He has also examined the regulatory environment of non-profit organisations as part of the renewed interest in building and managing social protection floors in Africa. Solomon has consulted for many CSOs including the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), the International Centre for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL), SOS Children’s Villages, Ghana, and the Nigeria INGO Forum (NIF).
